Weakly bound three-body systems with no bound subsystems.
We investigate the domain of coupling constants which achieve binding for a 3-body system, while none of the 2-body subsystems is bound. We derive some general properties of the shape of the domain, and rigorous upper bounds on its size, using a Hall{Post decomposition of the Hamiltonian. Numerical illustrations are provided in the case of a Yukawa potential, using a simple variational method.
متن کاملApproaching universality in weakly bound three-body systems.
Atom-dimer scattering below the three-body breakup threshold is studied for a system of three identical bosons. The atom-dimer scattering length and the energy of the most weakly bound three-body state are shown to be strongly correlated. An appropriate rescaling of the observables reveals the subtlety of the correlation and serves to identify universal trends in the unitary limit of divergent ...
متن کاملLimits on the domain of coupling constants for binding N-body systems with no bound subsystems.
We study the domain of coupling constants for which a 3-body or 4-body system is bound while none of its subsystems is bound. Limits on the size of the domain are derived from a variant of the Hall–Post inequalities which relate N -body to (N −1)-body energies at given coupling. Possible applications to halo nuclei and hypernuclei are briefly outlined. 03.65.Ge, 21.45.+v, 21.80.+1, 21.60.Gx Typ...
متن کاملDissociative recombination of the weakly bound NO-dimer cation: cross sections and three-body dynamics.
Dissociative recombination (DR) of the dimer ion (NO)(2) (+) has been studied at the heavy-ion storage ring CRYRING at the Manne Siegbahn Laboratory, Stockholm. The experiments were aimed at determining details on the strongly enhanced thermal rate coefficient for the dimer, interpreting the dissociation dynamics of the dimer ion, and studying the degree of similarity to the behavior in the mon...
متن کاملRadii of weakly bound three-body systems: halo nuclei and molecules
A renormalized three-body model with zero-range potential is used to estimate the mean-square radii of three-body halo nuclei and molecular systems. The halo nuclei (He, Li, Be and C) are described as point-like inert cores and two neutrons. The molecular systems, with two helium atoms, are of the type He2−X, where X= He, Li, Li, or Na. The estimations are compared with experimental data and re...
